Oh, die Melodie kenne ich gut. Das war eine der Serien, die ich geliebt habe.

Warum gibt es solche schönen Sachen eigentlich nicht mehr zu kaufen? So ein Kettenbuch macht sich doch sehr gut neben den ganzen Farbschnitten im Regal, oder? Muss man wohl im Baumarkt eine Kette kaufen und selbst Hand an die Bücher anlegen.

Hm. I've now browsed the sample and its very different in tone and style – a lot more action and dialogue, straight from the start. It's more like a Hollywood adaptation of the German version, which so far is a lot tamer.

There are a lot of similarities: an all-women crew, all are somehow Rán's daughters, on their own ship, sailing off on a Viking trip, sign language used by one of the crew members, diversity/queerness (? I haven't read enough yet, but the reviews of the German book hint at such an element).

I'm currently reading a book that bears a striking resemblance to Rán's Daughters, namely Schildmaid, by Judith C. Vogt and Christian Vogt. The story looks identical except that in Schildmaid, the ship is set to sail for Anglia. 🤔
