Auch am Königshof in Blois hat man im 12. Jahrhundert schon Weihnachten gefeiert. Hier ein Ausschnitt aus einer Szene, die ich aus dem veröffentlichten Buch rausgenommen, aber für meine Abonnenten aufbewahrt habe.

Beigefarbener Hintergrund mit einem weihnachtlichen Rahmen aus Efeu, Kiefernzapfen, Stechpalmen und Weißdorn. Darin steht der Text: Häuser und Kirchen zierten Zweige und Girlanden von allem, was die Jahreszeit an Grünzeug zu bieten hatte: zackige, dunkelgrüne Blätter von Stechpalmen mit leuchtend roten Beeren, dreieckiger, mehrfarbiger Efeu, schmale, längliche Lorbeerblätter und dichtbenadelte Tannenzweige. Auch am Hof herrschte ein ständiges Kommen und Gehen, inbesondere in der Großen Halle. Weiße Holzbretter zwischen Tannenzweigen, goldenen und roten Christbaumkugeln sowie in rotes und grünes Papier eingeschlagenen Päckchen mit goldenen Schleifen. Dazwischen steht der Text: Hier schleppten Diener Leitern, Hocker, Körbe mit Girlanden und Kisten voll mit Kerzen heran, um den Raum und die hohen Wände mit Lichterglanz und Farbe auszustatten. Händler und Bauern traten mit und ohne Helfer ein, um ihre Gaben anzukündigen und gegen Geld oder ein kleines Geschenk abzugeben. Weiße Holzbretter zwischen Tannenzweigen, goldenen und roten Christbaumkugeln und Luftschlangen sowie grün und rot eingepackten Päckchen mit goldenen Schleifen. Dazwischen steht der Text: Wer seine Ware hierher brachte, übergab diese an die fleißigen Hände, die alles umgehend an einem passenden Ort verstauten. Leute kamen an einem Ende der Halle herein und verschwanden entweder dort, wo sie hergekommen waren, oder an einem anderen Ende, aber zu keinem Zeitpunkt riss der Strom der Menschen ab.) Verschwommener weihnachtlicher Hintergrund in Rot-, Grün- und Goldtönen, Oben hängen weihnachtliche Dekorationen aus Tannengrün, roten und weißen Beeren sowie gefrosteten Kiefernzapfen, darunter sitzt eine junge Frau in mittelalterlicher Kleidung an einem Holztisch mit Feder, Tintenfass und Pergamentrollen.
