2019's Hurricane Dorian may have wiped out the entire Bahama Warbler population on Great Bahama. Since then, increasingly frequent & destructive hurricanes have put into question nearby populations' longevity.

Just 5 years ago, Birds of the World launched as the single largest ornithological platform, integrating eBird observational data & Macaulay Library multimedia!

We’ve rapidly expanded since then, updating over 2,700 accounts (24% of all species), of which 1,380 have received full treatments.

A new pest insect, Enallodiplosis discordis, has exacerbated the loss of Neltuma pallida, a dry forest tree species central to Peruvian Plantcutter habitats. This has furthered the decline of the vulnerable population, which is locally considered Endangered.

Birders/avian scientists built strong bonds over on the old Twitter - we so enjoyed sharing with its vibrant community. In the last year most of that community moved to other platforms, esp. here on BlueSky. We will now concentrate our outreach efforts here, and hope it remains open, fair, and fun!
