Birder from Chichester, UK.
Love to travel and take middling photos.
Very high tide = lots of waders on my @webs-gsmp.bsky.social count in Chichester Harbour. A glorious day but I think t-shirt weather in November is not a sign of a healthy planet! Several passers by looked through my scope (for the first time) and were blown away by the density of birds.

One of today’s #BirdOfTheDay themes is #fluffy.
I’ve always liked this Northern Yellow Warbler (newly split) photo I took in Wisconsin a few years ago.

An excellent evening in Havant being throughly entertained by @rialina.com
She’s on tour for a while yet so @deborahmalcolmart.bsky.social would definitely recommend catching her if you can!

Tonight was the first night of the Sound & Light show to celebrate 950 years of Chichester cathedral. I thought it was fantastic, really cool and well done. A must see if you’re in the area. #chichester

I’m glad you added the clarification as I was getting very confused whilst idly scrolling.

Not surprisingly there was a smaller than usual turnout for our Chichester RSPB Group walk at Pulborough Brooks this morning, but the birds were active before the rain came. Redpolls, Redwings & Fieldfare, Ruff, Golden Plover & Peregrine amongst the highlights. And the reserve needs the rain!

I know it’s two separate countries but this made me smile.

The long staying Osprey at Arundel performed as requested for the Tuesday Birders this morning, at one point flying right over our heads. Two juvenile Hobbies were also on The Hanger. Redpolls, Redwing, Coal Tit, Cattle Egret and Mandarin Duck were amongst the other goodies. #birds #sussexbirds

It’s like a travel version of a Short-eared Owl!

Garden centres are always a good place for tat.

It was eyes to the skies for the Chichester RSPB Group at Pagham this morning. Two Hobbies gave great & prolonged views, & Peregrine and Sparrowhawk were seen in the same airspace. 2 Green Sandpipers, 2 Snipe, female Marsh Harrier and a Fox on Ferry Pool. Lots of Stonechat activity as well.

A beautiful sunny morning at Pagham North Walls. 2 Spoonbills, 2 Curlew Sands, 4 Spotted Redshanks, 2 Rock Pipits, & a Yellow-legged Gull.
Also a Clouded Yellow, several Red Admirals & a Painted Lady. Glorious!

Is it time to rename the Crows Nest? This Peregrine Falcon was an unusual boat adornment on the Chichester RSPB walk at Thorney this morning. #birds

An Osprey was a nice consolation for missing the Little Stint at Pagham North Walls late morning. And finally got a chance to connect with some of the Curlew Sandpiper influx (4). My first Brent Geese (3) of the autumn as well. A nice variety with 65 species seen.

Back in 2021 when I was living in Portsmouth for a few weeks I set myself a B&W photo challenge on my iPhone whilst on my walks.
I call this one “waiting for chips?”

@piatpod.bsky.social How much money do you need to get Owen & Quentin from the ‘Listers’ documentary on to GAM to cover this?
It would be epic. Just let me know how much I need to send?
(If you haven’t seen Listers it’s brilliant, and the post credit sequence is perfect for PIAT).

First outing of the season for some gloves at Church Norton this morning as the wind definitely had an autumnal feel! 3 Spoonbills in the harbour, and 3 Redstarts & a dozen or so Chiffchaffs in the hedges were the highlights.

Only a couple of us weren’t deterred by the weather for our Chichester RSPB field trip. I forgot my walking boots (d’oh) so we went round WWT Arundel instead. Great Egret, Kingfisher, Cetti’s Warbler, my first site Whinchat, and my first Marsh Tit here for a while made for a good morning. ☔️

Another glorious day for my WeBS count in Chichester Harbour today. 500+ Med Gulls, and my first Knot & Barwit of the autumn. Highlight was this Wall Brown butterfly, a new one for me.

There’s not enough squash content on Bluesky. Hopefully @watsoncomedian.bsky.social can rectify that. A great match to be watching.
