Great views of a grey seal fishing close in on the River Mersey at Oglet this afternoon ..it caught 2 fish while I was there .

A female black redstart 😍 only my 3rd ever here
it was joined by a rock pipit and a few meadow pipits and 2 pied wags over the high tide and then disappeared into Garston docks .

High tide on #patchbirding ..mostly teal ,redshank and curlew
Several Cetti’s and water rail heard

A garden 1st for me today …a hornet mimic hoverfly - volucella zonaria
I bought this buddleia candy Lila sweetheart and would highly recommend , the amount of bees and hoverflys visiting it is amazing , it’s also attracted red admiral, painted lady,humming bird hawk moth 💜

A garden 1st for me today …a hornet mimic hoverfly - volucella zonaria

Lots of swift,swallows and house martins feeding over the meadows . There was New life everywhere with young robins,blackbirds,wrens ,great and blue tits , coots chicks have joined the moorhen ,little grebe and mallard chicks on the pond.
