My husband has been working on the dismantling of that place. Just a few years after the creating. Despite all of the top level equipment and labs, it's never been used. It's criminal.

Happy to be corrected, but a radio piece earlier explained that our current political landscape is too uncertain for the EU to allow that. We're in a mess here too 😞

Just so I'm keeping up on current events: a week after the White House declares Trump has "restored safety and excellence within the FAA," America suffers the worst air disaster since 9/11?

That about right?

I'm in the UK and feel so desperately saddened by those around me who just don't seem to know nor care. I pray for a miracle soon; it's a slow motion car crash (and not even slow!)

3/ from memory, we've been following these measures for 4yrs at least now. The restrictions are usually eased around april/may, and increased anywhere between oct-dec generally. I am so sorry your government aren't taking this seriously. It endangers not only Americans, but the whole world.

2/ If you have backyard birds, keep them under 'flockdown' in enclosures that prevent wild birds entering, and use a disinfectant solution on footwear before entering the enclosure. We have to report any dead wild birds as well as domestic. It's not infallible but it really helps control the virus

1/ This is so frightening. We have a few outbreaks in the UK, but we also have great communication from DEFRA and stringent restrictions in place for backyard keepers too.

I lost many hours a few years back watching them in my pond. I love that their 'normal' makes them the best dressed of the insect world! So glamorous 😅
