We have tried to set potential roles for these proteins in the AT physiology and disease gathering all the information available about claudins and their participation in different signaling pathways and physiological processes.

Here, we review what it's known about claudins within the adipose tissue (AT) physiology and disease. Yes, because claudins are more than tight junction proteins! We show that many claudins can be found in different cell populations in human and mice adipose tissue
