Some state medical schools will no longer host a speaker like me who professes immigrants are people with human dignity because it might anger their state legislature. So, I now accept speaking invitations from student groups of any size. Disrupt the #spiralofsilence

“I exhort all the faithful of the Catholic Church, and all men and women of good will, not to give in to narratives that discriminate against and cause unnecessary suffering to our migrant and refugee brothers and sisters.”

Put together a box of ornaments for each grandchild with the ones they made when they were little and a few my mother made. They help me decorate my #Christmas tree now and will inherit them one day.

Put up my tree and got the lights on. Thought I'd share im case you too could really use a little Christmas right about now.

There's an article in today's WaPo about ditching cartridge razors in favor of the old fashioned safety razor. You avoid unnecessary plastic use for the environment. But, it makes the recycling of the blades sound cumbersome. If you made this switch, what do you do with the blades? Thanks.

I have gone back to using colored construction paper as the audience response device when I teach medical students. It's extremely efficient and fun since the students can see each others' answers and have to consider whether to conform their answer or not. Back to basics and the students love it.
