It feels like the likeness of a particular person is becoming like...not only fair game but expected for an IP. This dovetails uncomfortably well with movie companies' growing desire to scan people for AI/adjacent stuff.

There's something related here to how you can't trust audiences to like, draw any long-term conclusions about what's going on in a show or movie anymore because all media is expected to be consumed as a second screen. It has to be the same person because audiences need that immediacy of recognition.

I sincerely don't think anything would think twice about it if they just introduced him without a second thought and just carried on like nothing happened.

At an event like a month ago, some older lady came up to my table with a horrified expression, and eventually blurted out, "Why would you want to slay a corp???"
It turns out she thought it was another word for cop (?), so she thought the game was effectively "Copslayers".
