In case you've heard that Portland is a war zone taken over by ANTIFA terrorists, just know these are the "terrorists" they want you to be afraid of

Special thanks to @its-a-tree.bsky.social, @bimboposting.bsky.social, @tonipnw.bsky.social, and everyone who took part in the Portland naked bike ride

lol whoops CC’s is back
i will never stop missing CC Slaughter’s, Andy & Bax, & Sizzle Pie. But the businesses that will replace and exceed them are already out there, waiting to get the attention and resources they need to become the next generation of Portland staples. Life is change, nothing lasts forever

as much as it hurts, i do think the current wave of portland mainstay businesses closing needs to happen if this city is going to move forward. the Portland that was 30 years ago is irreversibly changed, and bigger and better things are going to need room to grow - both physically and economically.

someone should write a book about the history, decline and re-development of Slabtown and call it North Of Northrup

People who have never been homeless saying that forcing people into substandard shelter is “more compassionate” than letting people live outside are displaying their paternalistic saviorism tendencies.

The four P’s of barriers to accessing shelters: pets, personal belongings, partners, and privacy

i’ve been waging a war against a local insane racist pseudo-graffiti artist. they keep reusing this same slip of paper and it’s become tiring.

every homeless person is more worthy of life than every white guy who drives a tesla

every so often i imagine walking into the weed-filled gaming den i occupied for most of 2020 and telling that girl that not only would i get married and move out on my own within five years, but i would in fact become a career-focused little upstart. crazy how things change for the better

if you park in my neighborhood with anything trump-related on your car, best believe it will become acquainted with my sharpest keys

is there any place on earth with a larger gap between the way its people act in person vs. on reddit? if r/portland was your metric for the cultural climate here you’d think armed bands of citizen were roaming the streets hunting down the homeless

if you consider yourself queer, interact with other queer people regularly, and aren’t friends with any trans women/femmes, you need to look inward. you’re part of the problem.

fancy burger at paymaster lounge. 9/10, perfectly cooked and fresh ingredients. aioli brings it together as always. only complaint: bun is a little flavorless. but it has a good texture, and that’s a win in and of itself.

cyclist pro tip: if you have renter’s insurance, look into coverage for your bike. i got into a crash last month and the damage was extensive, but my insurance reimbursed me for all part and labor — as well as the cost of a new helmet. easily worth $150 a year
