Bill's Rad Vermont
@billsradvermont.bsky.social
Longhair GenXer in Vermont who likes to get rad. Also likes bicycles, cats, rock n roll records, sambas, football (VT, MLS, Ligue 1), beer, weed, trees, peace. Does not like mean people, effing hates nazis. I'll dj your gig for beer and weed
The track "Girls" was featured in the Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson movie, Lost in Translation. Liam Gallagher of Oasis lends some vocals, as does Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star and Paul Weller of The Jam. More importantly, Death in Vegas were at peak of electronic psychedelic madness (good thing)

Mark Lanegan and Isobel Campbell had a beauty and the beast thing going on here -- Lanegan, the grunge survivor with a gruffy baritone, and Campbell, of indie pop darlings, Belle and Sebastian, whose vocals are light, airy, and elegant. Together, they were magic. #topjamsky #vinylsky

It's 2025 and people are still discovering the simple beauty of Jackson Browne's ode to things aren't great, "These Days." New covers of "These Days" get recorded every year, like clockwork. Though The Velvet Underground's Nico was first to record it, I still consider Browne's version the definitive

I consider Buffalo Tom to be the third member of the '80s UMASS college rock holy trinity, next to Dinosaur, Jr and The Pixies. This expanded reissue of Sleepy Eyed just came out on Beggars Archive. Fellow olds, you should familiarize yourself with Beggars Archive archive.beggars.com #topjamsky

Let me tell you, November was bullshit. Just as my GI tract began to behave itself again, I got knocked down by a brutal cold.

The last time I got to play outside was about two weeks ago. I needed to fix that, full recovery or not. I tend to get crazy if I spend too much time away from Mama Earth.

When Big Star toured in the '90s, the lineup was rounded out by Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer of The Posies. Strip away the grunge pop and listen between the squawks on Frosting on the Beater, and you'll hear why they were such naturals for the job #topjamsky #vinylsky

The joke here was that their 2nd album was so full of hits, that it would be radio city for Big Star. The album had no radio hits. Big Star were never big stars, in the traditional sense. They became more of a favorite band of your favorite band by the '90s and are still loved today. #topjamsky

Just the good stuff here from Teenage Fanclub: British Invasion, The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds, left coast folk, and power pop. #topjamsky #vinylsky

It's been a while since we've had a jam session. I'd been ill, and when I stopped being ill, my acid reflux flared up and I've been ill again This is 50.

Also 50, a quiet night at home, a fire in the wood-burning stove, a cat on my lap, and Ride's 1990 classic, Nowhere, on the turntable #topjamsky

Happy Life Day to all those who celebrate

I've been feeling kinda gross of late. The weather has also been kinda gross of late. But, a little wintry mix wasn't about to keep me inside today. I am less gross and good enough for a short hike to the King Farm Overlook and then on to the Red Pine Overlook.

Touch grass, they said. It'll make you feel better, they said.

I went outside and everything was brown and gray, I couldn't see the trails for the dead leaves, and there were goddamn sticks everywhere.

Welcome to stick season.

Who is your childhood soccer hero?

Ok, this is more like my teenage soccer hero since the opportunities to watch top-tier soccer in the USA growing up in the '80s and '90s were scarce. But, this guy, Carlos Valderrama was so elegant on the pitch, and had such great hair.

Later Dudes! Thank you for hangin' tonight. Happy Mamdani day, to all who celebrate.

Thank you to tonight's sponsors Harpoon and Stone Leaf. Hit me up, you guys, I will totally sell out for the right price. The right price is free beer or free weed.

The days are getting shorter, colder too. I am increasingly drawn to comfort music. Krautrock is my hygge. #topjamsky #vinylsky

There are times when I listen to this record that I just repeat A1-A3 ("Nothing Compares 2U," "Mandika," and "The Emperors New Clothes") over and over again. Tonight is one of those times. #topjamsky #vinylsky

Ask an old. They'll tell you. After 9/11 The Strokes had to reissue their debut album, Room on Fire, minus the song New York City Cops because the song was mean to cops and cops were now the best and the bravest people ever in the history of all mankind. #topjamsky #vinylsky

Released between the breakup of Husker Du and the formation of his 2nd classic band, Sugar, Black Sheets of Rain finds Bob Mould once again working with two members of Cleveland avant punk band, Pere Ubu (Tony Maimone and Anton Fier). The title track is heavy and epic #topjamsky #vinylsky
