My sense at the time was that the refusal to level with France was the main issue. The money was always Australia’s. Respect for close ally would still require honesty. AUS using its guest status at G7 summit in Cornwall to covertly negotiate participant France out of the contract didn’t help.

My thought has been that that culture and wealth of experience probably is the most valuable contribution UK can make to European defence.

It would probably be a different sort of partnership than with UK/France. And perhaps not the kind we’re looking for in this programme.

It is certainly hard to see how involving more parties won’t delay things, even if 🇩🇰/🇸🇪 were desirable partners on this programme.
Will be fascinating to see how schedule/technical/partnership end up being weighted.

Do you think Norway would be interested in slightly delaying our decision, to see if any tie-in with Danish &/ Swedish plans is possible? Or is that just speculation?

Yes, I buy your point about the prospects of Meteor in Norwegian service. Not sure we need it. We can probably lean on the Swedes for our Meteor-ing needs 😉

Perhaps building some subtle pressure to get certification process completed too, or? Thinking about British efforts to get F-35B certified to carry Meteor. I guess it helps Norway that US wants to use JSM as well.
