i think the only real solution to this issue is to develop a second Menswear Guy who specializes in cowboy attire

i've literally had a producer try to de-rig a boom arm while my back was turned and he put a hole in the ceiling because, surprise, being in charge doesn't magically aquaint you with the equipment. most of these restrictions are in place to help management say, not have to pay for a damaged ceiling
Even the stuff like "oh these stagehands wouldn't let me move this box three feet" look the CEO of a company would not let some random contractor address the board or the shareholders or whatever. You don't get to just take over parts of their jobs.
