F1TV just sent me this email, so that answers some of my questions I guess. sucks that they seemingly are not prorating current F1TV subs that extend into the 2026 season, but I guess we'd need a functioning regulatory state for cool stuff like that 🥲

seems like we're definitely losing the standalone app but apparently it's functionality will just be recreated within the apple tv app? potentially an improvement on android since the official F1TV app never supported picture in picture

so the $85/year F1TV pro tier is dead in the US next year, then? you basically have to pay Apple $99/year for premium? $15 more a year isn't the worst, and its cheaper than the $130/year that F1TV premium costs standalone, but ugh still annoying. does the apple tv app on android at least have PiP?
