I love this score so much. The Rocketeer and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (with score by Michael Kamen) came out in consecutive weeks in 1991 and I had those two soundtrack CDs on pretty much continuous rotation for the rest of that summer.
James Horner’s score for THE ROCKETEER (1991) is some of the best work of his career and it deserves to be celebrated more.

First CD bought. 1987. What was yours?

(I think "Witches of Eastwick", also by Williams, was the first one I bought that I didn't already have on LP)

For anyone who hasn't seen it, seek out "October Sky". It is my go to choice whenever anyone asks for an example of a great film that few have seen.
Happy birthday to Joe Johnston!

He designed a lot of great ships, then directed Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989), The Rocketeer (1991), Jumanji (1995), October Sky (1999), Jurassic Park III (2001), and Captain America (2011).

At a concert at the Hollywood Bowl, I saw a tweet from Michael Giacchino that he was there too. I replied that it looked like he had a better seat and he responded asking where I was seated. He then came and found me to say "hello" and take a photo. Couldn't have been nicer.
Screw "never meeting your heroes." What were some times you met your heroes and they were super cool?

When Disney's California Adventure opened, it had a Wolfgang Puck restaurant called Avalon Cove with a bar that served a lighter menu. They had the best clam chowder I've ever had. The restaurant lasted about a year and I've tried other Puck restaurants, but none use that same recipe.
I don't want to hear about your lost loves, tell me about the restaurant food that haunts you because you'll never be able to taste it again

@repluzrivas.bsky.social I am a constituent and hope that you will echo Congressman Jackson's demand for resignations due to the appalling security breach revealed today.
If your own member of Congress is a Democrat and hasn't made this demand, ask them why.

If your member is a Republican, ask them anyway. Don't let them off the hook. Let them know you're watching all this.
Today, I am calling on Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and other top officials in the Trump administration to resign immediately due to their reckless and unlawful disclosure of national security secrets. Their actions have put our country at risk, and immediate accountability is necessary

Watergate, although I mostly thought it was a strange TV show my parents kept watching. First one that I remember that I really understood as a news story (not counting elections) was probably the Iran Hostage Crisis.
What’s the first major news story your remember as a child?

Mine is OJ Simpson

Took me a moment to recognize the music. When I did, I definitely started tearing up.
Look up.
#Superman is only in theaters July 11.

Saw "Wicked" this evening. I really hope they stick the landing with Part 2, but this adaptation of the first act is about as good as it can be. The casting is perfect and the extended length allowed both the characters and story to be fleshed out considerably. Despite the length, it never dragged.

I'd be the engineer proving that hyperspace isn't really fast enough and providing advice on how to make it faster that must be followed or I won't allow your new ship to be sold.
Tag yourself with the job you’d actually have in the Star Wars universe given your occupation

I’d be the Rebel engineer officer screaming at leadership on Hoth that a linear defense against armor is useless unless you’ve got integrated minefields and obstacle belts linking in with the terrain
Whenever people post "what job would you have in Star Wars" my answer is "I'd be writing memos to the Grand Moff explaining why we need more Microsoft Office licenses" and well here we are.

I believe ESPN Zone would still be in business today if the creepy rotating heads on the side of the building had shot red lasers out of their eyes.

Seeing Star Wars in Concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall tonight. Anthony Daniels is narrating with the Los Angeles Philharmonic playing suites from all 9 Skywalker Saga films.

My very first computing experience was on a TRS-80 Model III just like these.
I’d watch a movie or series about these people, especially if it were on a new Radio Shack streaming service (Shack Plus?).

Reminds me of a favorite sequence of photos taken on the Disney Wish last year. Between these two photos, Tiana elbowed Naveen and pointed over at me.
