At the same time, a co-worker today complimented another co-worker on their weight loss in a way that made me feel very noticably "the fat one" in the conversation. I haven't had that happen in years.

I started sewing at the beginning of the year to remove myself from the commodity of fat bodies in fashion and that's helped. It helps when patterns don't go away and I can make clothes that make me feel good. But that's an active choice I make out of my creative needs that isn't available for all

I grew up rural, 45 mins outside of Champaign in IL. Very used to dead and dying small town USA. Despite that, I was blown away when I moved to Ohio and saw real rural poverty in Appalachia. There's a difference between "boring but functional" and "collapsing from systemic neglect".

I used it during a big research project looking at relationships between people in Chicago's Black artist network haha. But my partner uses it much more as a brain dump area with tags connecting larger thoughts. I love how you can make separate vaults for different projects or ideas.

Everyone wants to live next to the artist until it's gong sound bath #3 of the day and the yard is just trash. I miss last summer when he'd play EDM and work out for hours.

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center residency they do every year for artists is one of the best residencies in the US. Deeply competitive and sought after, to work in the factory with the workers making the toilets!

I'm wondering about recording all of the violations I see on a daily basis. I live off MLK and it's routine to see people completely ignore red lights.
