One thing about getting all this old shit across to my new laptop is i find the last old shit from previous laptops, all covered in digital dust from 20yrs ago...

Look at this relic.

I'm scanning old family photos at the moment & this reminded me of one of my faves of my mum (on the left)

Goodbye old friend... bought for £400 in 2017, this was the laptop that I started making this Black Hilk Transmissions music on during lockdown

Upgraded memory, replaced battery twice, dropped 3 times...

Replaced by another £400 laptop just this week, onwards!

Still into ripping CDs 💿

My commute sounds for today

I like the pink theme across both, pure coincidence

Well I saw this when I was looking for a memory stick earlier this morning - added to to the 'play next' pile 👍

Here are a few more JAMC articles from around 'Psychocandy' 40years ago - I lived for them back then, I still have all these article in a scrapbook

My fave pics of them come from Smash Hits, I love the red/grey one below

Trying to organise my folders/files on this old laptop before transferring them to the new one... i kinda like doing it

came across these in the 'downloads' folder...

so good, i definitely grabbed them from Twitter but no idea who first shared them, but i thank them anyway

Articles like these were so essential back in the olden days (80s)... these signposts to stuff that - to kids like me, blank slates essentially - stayed with me for years after, on a mental list called 'cool shit to look out for'

JAMC from a mag called Sky from about 87-88...

Nice. Ripped the cover typeface off this book cover 😎 bought the book in the old Argyle Street indoor market in the 90s

In the 1970s of my mind, my dad is always wearing this outfit - simon shirt/sloppy joe, purple jeans, desert boots ❤️

30yrs late; catching up with Sonic Youths back catalogue...

On first listens, a pretty good SY album - I think I was only listening to hip hop or drum n bass in '95 so missed this at the time

Yay! My failed attempt to be Lanarkshire's DJ Shadow 😀

The cover art still looks nice - Pam's bro took that somewhere up New Lanark, and I messed about with it

I found another crackin' old pic of you, but I wont share it here 👍, i'll share this instead, mid 80s 😂

I think the music would sound a little different now - hopefully better - but I am still very happy with the overall look of the thing, so thanks for the nice words @waveform.observer 🙏🙏🙏

This is still one of my own faves, in the centre of the zine 👇

Family Photo archive - old cars special

includes: my 1st car, a Ford Zephyr (the 1st car I remember being in our drive was a sky blue Zephyr, I never saw it move), a little green fiat hired to drive round the Isle of Man

My grandfather (driver in BW photo) was obsessed by cars.

The Scots Pine.

It's also what us scotchlanders do when we listen to them... 🥺

More bonus - my bloody valentine article from Oct 15, 1988 Melody Maker. Written by Simon Reynolds in his typical style of the time. Photo by Tom Sheehan.

37 Years ago today... my bloody valentine live at Glasgow Revue (the bar beneath the Barrowland Ballroom)... teenage me was quite a fan 😊

'Isn't Anything' hadn't been released yet but 'You Made Me Realise' had sent a signal that mbv were not the band they were in 1987

Grabbed this from library earlier in the week after reading about it on here... enjoying it so far @damianbarr.bsky.social

It had just been put on the 'new books' shelf, I'm borrower no. 1!

there is nothing out of the ordinary with this old family pic - although it did elicit a good family war-time story from my mum - but I love the details (as usual) and I also love that it has a stamp on the back with the date, December 1966.

This takes me back - I never heard this until about 1987, my pal Peter, who was a bit older, played me it and other great records. I found a pic of him in his room recently, circa 87-88 ❤️

I'm scanning old family photos, & I love some of the details. In this holiday snap of my dad & his mother-in-law, he is reading 'The World, The Flesh & Myself' by Michael Davidson - an acknowledged gay modern classic which he prob. got from Enrico Cocozza.

nicely matches the book cover too 🙂
