We should mandate a work requirement for House Republicans to get their health care. How about they have to work at least one week a month to keep their government health insurance?

This, in a nutshell, is why the Justice Department remains independent from the White House when it comes to directing criminal prosecution. A country that fails to take to heart the lessons of Watergate ends up with Trump.

I agree that this is the logical endpoint, but it is also likely its Kryptonite because then it makes our courts impotent. Courts don’t like giving up their power (see post 9/11). So the endgame, if the courts want to stay relevant, is to say the whole thing is unconstitutional from the jump
Why? Because if Trump can legally say “We can’t bring him home” without having to prove it, that means he doesn’t have to bring anyone home. And if he doesn’t have to bring anyone home, he can send anyone there forever. END/

20 important lessons
"On Tyranny" is a #1 NYT bestseller again. I wish the moment were different. But I’m glad the book is useful. And grateful for all the kind words about putting the 20 lessons to work.

There’s a special place in HELL for anyone who stands before the Supreme Court and argues that a man they wrongfully sent to an El Salvadorian death camp should stay there.

Raskin: If they can just sweep someone off the street, put them on an airplane, and send them to a torturer’s prison in an authoritarian state like El Salvador without due process… then they could do it to anybody.

Good way to see the current tariffs, as of literally today, is no tariffs on high value add manufactured goods marketed to middle and upper middle classes. Massive tariffs for cheap consumer items which amount to the biggest economic privilege of working class/middle class life in US.

You don’t have to agree with someone’s views to defend their right to say it. This is what authoritarian regimes do, not us.

If this ruling stands, it’s not just the end of a legal case, it’s the end to free speech.

Irony is dead in this moment along with common sense. Trump who squawked “but her emails” incessantly, let Musk (unelected/not a govt employee) send his crew of kids in to review classified information & plug devices of unknown origin into the government computer system, compromising everything.
