Pastor.
Baptist - but not THAT kind of Baptist.
Trying to live and teach the law of love.
Special Needs dad.
Love is the cheat-code of the universe. Don't know your next step? Choose what is loving. Don't know what to say? Say what is loving. Frustrated with the person in front of you or the person IN you? Speak love. When we choose to act in love, we choose to live in harmony with God and the universe.

Growing up, I was told that the demise of Christianity would be caused by our country rejecting God.

Now I believe it is actually caused by Christians blatantly rejecting the teachings of Jesus for the sake of political power.

Trump sows chaos in federal workforce then says “resign within a week and I’ll give you 7 months severance.” Don’t fall for it!  Trump told innumerable contractors he’d pay—then stiffed them. He has no authority to promise severance pay. Wait him out!

The Trump administration says it will begin subjecting all federal employees to “enhanced standards of suitability and conduct” and is warning of future downsizing.

Excellent words from my Senator!
Sen. Tim Kaine tells federal employees to ignore Trump’s offer to quit with pay for months. “Don’t be fooled. He’s tricked hundreds of people with that offer. If you accept that offer and resign he’ll stiff you just like he stiffed the contractors. He doesn’t have any authority to do this.”

The Church has become so enmeshed with the values of empire that, when a Christian minister speaks truth to power like the Prophets + Jesus, people think it’s radical or partisan. It’s not. It’s our calling + tradition. Bishop Budde should be the rule, not the exception.

When we Christians are more known for our support of presidents than we are for our support of the poor, the immigrant, the marginalized, and the oppressed, that is when we know we are following someone other than Jesus and we have a lot of repenting to do.

There are two words that are going to define this new administration: chaos and corruption. The chaos is there to cover the corruption.

Such a great article. Don't be fearful.
New from me: Trump is a lame duck, an old, tired, easily manipulated one, whose vanity is a useful tool. Foreign leaders like Claudia Sheinbaum are right to mock him, and American elites should uncurl from the fetal position and get in on the fun.

Donald Trump is a lame duck (not a bear)—an unusually weak one, in some ways—and he knows it.

The great enemy of freedom is the alignment of political power with wealth. This alignment destroys the commonwealth - that is, the natural wealth of...household, neighborhood and community - and so destroys democracy, of which the commonwealth is the foundation and practical means.

Pres Biden should go further and take a stand on the death penalty. Commute the death sentences of the 40 individuals currently on federal death row to life in prison. This is the right, moral, and ethical thing to do and would put the US on the side of honoring the divinity of every person.
