'Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric' released on this day in 2014.

In the pantheon of panned 3D Sonic games, it is perhaps Sonic Boom which has been subject to some of the most intense scrutiny. Designed around the finding that focus testers were sick and tired of Sonic going "too fast."

'The Simpsons Skateboarding' released on this day in 2002.

A sub-par skateboarding title developed around the Simpsons license. Insipid running commentary, unresponsive control, and uninspired gameplay make this title one of the worst Tony Hawk's Pro Skater clones of all time.

'Imagine Party Babyz' released on this day in 2008.

A middling party game where the central gimmick is the ability to customize and play as babies across its minigames. "Infamously" given a fair / average-scoring review by IGN, which the Internet seems to take irrational ire with.

'Resident Evil 2' on Game(.)com released on this day in 1998.

Tiger's attempt to scale down RE2 for their ill-fated handheld resulted in a surprisingly comprehensive (barely playable) tour of Raccoon City. Nearly every screen is accounted for, albeit lacking any story beats.

Tonight on Twitch at 8:00PM (EST): It's all fun and games until someone turns out to be a spy. Tune in as we play through 'Spy Games: Elevator Mission' -- a game originally intended as an entry in the 'Elevator Action' series, until the rights got lost! www.twitch.tv/badgamehallo...

'The Sopranos: Road to Respect' released on this day in 2006.

A PS2 tie-in to HBO's hit show. Pits players in the role of "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero's previously-unseen son, as he works his way up the ladder of the New Jersey mafia. Weighed down by boring brawling and shockingly low production value.
November 9, 2025 at 10:08 PM
'WCW Backstage Assault' released on this day in 2000.

From the dying days of WCW comes their last and worst video game tie-in; which stripped wrestling of all its ring-centric mechanics, and re-centered the action entirely around half-baked backstage brawling.
November 8, 2025 at 10:35 PM
'Tag Team Match: MUSCLE' released on this day in 1985.

A wrestling game largely beloved in its native Japan as a tribute to one of their most iconic media franchises, and largely beloathed in America as a cheap cash-in on a fad toy line. All things are a matter of perspective.
November 8, 2025 at 7:48 PM
'Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly' released on this day in 2002.

At the peak of Spyro's popularity, his ascent was cut suddenly short with his inaugural sixth-gen appearance -- placed in the hands of inexperienced new developers, who could only produce a poor man's imitation.
November 6, 2025 at 1:48 AM
'Drake of the 99 Dragons' released on this day in 2003.

Majesco's attempt to launch a cross-media franchise off the back of an Xbox / PC third-person shooter didn't exactly go according to plan. Turn dreams into nightmares with guns akimbo.
November 4, 2025 at 8:48 PM
'Popeye' for Switch released on this day in 2021.

A 3D reimagining of Nintendo's 1982 Popeye arcade game, by way of shovelware kingpins Sabec Ltd. Ridiculed on release for its simplistic gameplay, low production value, and the curious nature of its licensing.

Truly, it's all been downhill from there -- and I ain't talkin' street racing nosireebob!!!
November 3, 2025 at 2:46 PM
'Captain Novolin' released on this day in 1992.

The self-proclaimed "world's first diabetic superhero" does battle against an army of alien junk food, but quickly discovers that his poor control / inability to self-regulate makes him his own worst enemy. Check you feet!
November 2, 2025 at 6:54 PM
'Way of the Warrior' released on this day in 1994.

A particularly dire entry into the pantheon of digitzed fighters, by way of a still-fledgling Naughty Dog. On the plus side: It does feature a killer soundtrack by White Zombie, and introduced the world to "Shaky Jake."
November 1, 2025 at 11:01 PM
'The Quiet Man' released on this day in 2018.

A narrative-driven 3D beat 'em up starring a deaf protagonist, whose missing hearing is subsequently transferred onto players. Unfortunately, combat is an utter chore, and its storytelling devices are muddled / nonsensical.
November 1, 2025 at 9:30 PM
'The Slaughtering Grounds' released on this day in 2014.

The most notorious release by maligned Steam developers / asset flippers Digital Homicide. Catapulted into infamy by James Stephanie Sterling, who later endured a frivolous lawsuit filed by the studio's owners.

Highlander is easily the worst game for the short-lived console / peripheral, if not an all-time low for the whole genre. Perhaps its only saving grace is the fact that so few people would've potentially been able to play it in its time. (That, and the ability to quicksave any time / anywhere.)
October 30, 2025 at 6:06 PM
'Highlander: The Last of the MacLeods' released on this day in 1995.

An action-adventure adaptation of the animated Highlander series, released on the ill-fated Atari Jaguar CD. Contains clunky controls, poorly plotted progression, and deeply frustrating combat encounters.
October 30, 2025 at 6:06 PM
'Segata Sanshirō Shinken Yūgi' released on this day in 1998.

When it came time to create a game around the Saturn's mascot, there was only one choice for its developer in Sega's mind: Ecole Software -- the same studio behind the platform's single-most infamous title, 'Death Crimson.'
October 29, 2025 at 4:22 PM
'Shaq Fu' released on this day in 1994.

Looking to leverage the popularity of Shaquille O'Neal, but not to compete against their own upcoming basketball titles, Electronic Arts landed on the only logical compromise: A one-on-one fantasy fighting game. Infamy soon followed.
October 28, 2025 at 6:59 PM
'Trespasser' released on this day in 1998.

Massively innovative and deeply flawed in equal measure. Barely able to run on computers of its era, due to a myriad of technical issues and high system requirements. Might be the most novel / compelling licensed tie-in of all time?
October 28, 2025 at 4:10 PM
'Castlevania: The Adventure' released on this day in 1989.

Castlevania's first Game Boy outing hadn't quite been whipped into shape before release; between pixel-perfect platforming, cruel power-down mechanics, and sluggish performance. What a horrible night to have a handheld.
October 27, 2025 at 6:55 PM
'Hoshi Wo Miru Hito' released on this day in 1987.

Perhaps the most infamous RPG of the Famicom era, and renowned as "Densetsu no Kusoge" ("Legendary Shit Game") in its native Japan. Travel through walls, over oceans, and eventually into space in this utterly lawless adventure.
