This comes up frequently. I would say there is nothing “wrong” with games that represent upsetting things, or with enjoying them. Games don’t always have to be fun in the stereotypical way—“engaging” might be the better word. I also think games are worth critical discussion just like other media.

We showed an early version at CircleDC in the spring, and it has since metamorphosed into a Here I Stand series game that is as nasty as you’d expect from a game about Machiavelli. The main scenario title: “God Will Not Do Everything.”
