Fantastic visibility from the Schlossberg in #Freiburg yesterday: the hill with the mast on it is 20km away, the more distant mountains (Vosges) more like 70km.

This is the building where I teach five out of seven of my classes every week. The view out of these windows, with autumnal trees and the reflective glass edifice of the uni library beyond, ist just glorious at the moment, especially if you catch it on a sunny afternoon. 🥰 @uni-freiburg.de

#Heilbronn also offered up the two best breakfasts I’d had in aaaaaages: a fantastic small glass of luscious fruit-laden muesli bursting with flavour yesterday, and avocado and cottage cheese on doorstep sourdough toast, with salad and dressing, today. 🤤

We were intrigued by what advertised itself as a “self-exploring winebar” in Heilbronn. You load credit onto a card and then insert it into a slot before selecting the wine you want from one of the cabinets (a taster / 100ml / 200ml) and pressing the button to fill your glass. (More in ALT text.)

Cheesy photo, but it was so lovely to see my husband again yesterday. We went on a guided tour of the casino in Baden-Baden, and I can’t recommend this experience highly enough!

I’m staying at one of those places that doesn’t cater for people needing any kind of cleansing or grooming products within reach in the shower. For €1.49 I acquired this slim plastic tray today, and it may even ensure an expletive-free shower experience for the next while. 👍

It’s been a bit autumnal the last few days, so I was craving spicy comfort food. Made @kavey.bsky.social’s Japanese-style mabo dofu recipe, and it was as delicious as ever. Used vegan mince this time round, and gochujang instead of tobanjan. #bexxicooks

And in other culinary news, I made some chutney earlier this week. We came across makeshift punnets of mirabelle plums at a bus stop last weekend and brought one home.
