Great views north over Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire and views south over Leicestershire and Warwickshire.
Also some wonderful ever changing landscape colours.

If you are looking for something to do on Thursday 20th November,the geowanderers group part of @charnwoodforest.bsky.social will be doing a 6 mile circular walk starting at the Altar Stones at Markfield, then visiting Hill Hole Quarry before walking over to Billa Barra.

Just finished rereading Born in a Burial Gown by @mwcraven.bsky.social
It’s about 8years ago that I first read this book and love the Fluke/Towler relationship😊
and what better location for reading but by Lake Ontario in Toronto👍👍

The Final Vow from Goldsboro Books eventually arrived late Thursday and I have just finished reading it.
All I can say Mike is your books just get better - loved it!

More geoconservation work completed today at Morley Quarry in @charnwoodforest.bsky.social
Vegetation was cleared around the interpretation boards,litter picking took place, and some sapling removal was followed by a group picnic, luckily we had finished before the heavy showers arrived.

All my brassica’s are doing well this year especially the broccoli which have some wonderful leaves. So I decided yesterday to cut some chop them up and cook them with a bit of salt & pepper and a little sugar 👍👍
Went well with the Charlotte salad potatoes 😊

So this mornings walk was a 7:15 start at Thornton Reservoir, ready to cover the 6 mile Thornton - Bagworth circular route taking in plenty of Leicestershires past industrial history.

This morning at Morley Quarry in @charnwoodforest.bsky.social the geoconservationists did a tidy up at the site clearing vegetation that was obscuring our interpretation boards and fencing.
The quarry appearance has certainly changed over the last 18 months👍

Today I've witnessed what I think of is Warren Hills at its best. Walking in the warm sunshine you have great views over the surrounding countryside,incredible rock formations plus the new vegetation growth all in @charnwoodforest.bsky.social

At this time of year there is no better place to witness the glorious display of bluebells and wood anemones than Holly Hayes Wood in @charnwoodforest@bsky.social
and listen to the diverse sound of birds singing away.
Also never seen the steam so low on water.
