While I'm here... some of my favourites!

1) What Souls Are Made Of by Tasha Suri

This is a remix of Wuthering Heights which imagines the period after Heathcliff leaves the Heights (and Cathy is left there). It offers a different ending and explores the histories of South Asians in Britain.

Hey y'all.

I hate Amazon with a fiery passion. However. The disposable N95 masks I use are currently on an incredible bulk sale (I've bought two bundles like this before).

The link for $30 for 440 masks, free shipping in the US:

Is there a book like White Fragility…
but about American adults and the air they breathe?

Because someone needs to write the book on why a nation that buys air fryers, air fresheners, air purifiers, scented candles, and aromatherapy oils…
won’t fight for clean air that keeps their children alive.

while the shutdown is over, folks are still struggling to put food on the table and food banks are hard pressed to meet that demand. thanks to everyone (mostly strangers!) who has helped this get fundraiser to $2345 so far. 💞
#FoodBankChallenge

Can we get to $5000 to start? With SNAP running out in Nov if the shutdown continues, more folks will be turning to food banks - which are already struggling since the administration cut $500 MILLION in deliveries back in the spring.

You probably already know this, but it's important to spread the word.
“There’s too many Americans on SNAP!”

Yes there are. Too many corporations refuse to pay a living wage.

Huge companyies are encouraging their employees to apply for SNAP because they don’t pay them enough to survive.

The government encourages this & then blames the poor.

As SNAP hangs in the balance for nearly 42 million people, misinformation is rampant. Myths of laziness and fraud persist when we should be talking about too low wages for workers, income inequality, and our threadbare social safety net.

In this guest post, Adam Chandler sorts fact from fiction:
SNAP benefits feed essential needs while still leaving many hungry for more
Journalist and author Adam Chandler explains what so much of the conversation about them gets wrong.

We literally do disagree about this, though. Some politicians want to take food from children and some politicians don't. Pretending this "isn't political" just allows the child-starving ghouls to get away with it.

Tell people who supports the *political program* to feed children and who doesn't!

Ideally money, to an existing food bank. I've seen tons of pop-up mutual aid efforts in my small city in the last week. While I applaud the desire to support neighbors in need, imagine navigating dozens of random Facebook posts and email accounts to find food when you need it. Let's make it easy.
If you can afford it, it's a good time to give a donation to your local food bank.

“If they need SNAP they should work”.

Most people receiving SNAP are working. Some are working two jobs.

Be angry at the employers who pay such a pittance that people are living below the poverty line.

Be angry at the billionaires hoarding the wealth

Stop blaming the poor.
