Timely post! I’m 35K into my first draft (first novel) and hit the wall. After 10 days of little progress and much screen-staring, I realized I had the wrong character telling the story. File > New 😅 (and I realize this may be far from my final pivot!)

Omg you’re right. My memory failed me. I thought remembered getting it, but it must have been between pregnancies that I got it.

Yes, typically in plenty of time for protection (presuming you’re not in the rare group for whom it wanes almost immediately), though of course until recently it was just an extra layer of protection since the virus was all but eradicated. 😩

A typical prenatal workup includes labs for measles titers at the first appointment. (Even if you had the childhood vax, protection may not have persisted.)

Given how much of my first draft WIP includes notes like <insert dialogue> and <insert scene description>, I know my word count will balloon on 2nd draft - at least in those scenes that remain. 😅

Sometimes I’m surprised when I reread later it’s not as bad as I thought, other times I’m horrified lol.

My first stab at any scene is allowed to be dreck, for my eyes only. I’ll tidy it up in revision (by which I mean over many revisions 😅)

This week’s progress is happening 350 words a day and it’s like pulling teeth. 😭 New story dynamics are revealing themselves, though, so I’ll take that win. 😅
