In 2014 when my dad was dying & I needed to move around I would walk around the data mines with a box full of network cables & bottle caps & 30 year old power cords & our old manager was like “oooh thanks for getting on that” like she was *very aware* of something that didn’t exist & Im not even IT
As an IT person, the easiest way to look like you're busy or that you were doing something important, especially if you're late, is to carry a box of stuff. Parts, laptops, accessories, cables. Anything. Just put it in a box and you're all set.
