As a member of a church choir since the age of 9 I have sung the psalms for decades - as with many scriptures they speak to the now. So, here is a poem that for me tells of some of the essence of the psalms.

A poem for today, 20th January 2025.

Have de - decked the house apart from wreath on the door, which will remain until candlemas. Have also chalked the lintel of front door on this epiphany. I suspect we’re going to need many blessings as 2025 evolves.

Woken up to a power cut, whistling kettle on hob, lanterns out, plug in old landline phone, battery radio on classic fm - this is all very peaceful .

I know today is Thursday but in my Christmas calendar brain it’s actually Monday as Christmas Day is actually a Sunday, and will always be so - is it just me that thinks this way ?
