My across-the-street neighbor struggled to stake her flag. I ran over to see if I could help. I’ve never met her other than waving. We introduced either other and she told me how important it was for her to get that flag outside for tomorrow. True love of country looks like these “little” acts.

Nature continues to inspire no matter what crazy stuff happens around us. My granddaughter spotted caterpillars on our narrow leaf milkweed! She has been “teaching” us about them all day.

Had a great time hanging out with 175+ neighbors and friends at our small town’s park. Another reason I love living in Aromas, CA. #nokings

Ditched a mtg to hang with my daughter at Big Basin State Park. 5 years post CZU fire. Redwoods are coming back every which way. Maybe the rest of us can survive soc/pol/ecn/env disaster too? Hope.

Thinking I needed some laugh-out-loud humor to offset the current craziness, I'm re-reading Carl Hiaasen's "Squeeze Me." I'm laughing out loud for sure, but also jaw-droppingly horrified at how real life so often mimics fiction. Again. #booksky #politics #pythons #CarlHiaasen #SqueezeMe

Finished up a long day of tedious projects, wondering what I might read for fun tonight. Then I checked my mail. This arrived! Thanks to author @laurierking and @maryrussell for the ARC.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm kind of getting tired of the color gold.

Just learned that the university I work for had a grant cancelled, no explanation. The grant provides stipends for teacher candidates so that they don't need to work while student teaching. It allows for those who might not otherwise be able to afford a credential program. NYT quote:

So… if USPS can say this, then what’s the problem with everyone else?
