On Saturday I passed through Stocksfield station with my father (Fath) & learned about the station’s place in our family history. At about the age of 11 Fath & his best friend were caught stealing grain from a local farm. They’d been selling it to allotment holders as pigeon feed.

Tomorrow is the 35th anniversary of the death of Stephen Hammond, 32, David Richardson, 19, & his brother Paul Richardson, 17, who died trying to clear a blockage in a sewer under Watney market. They had not been given any safety equipment or training. Their employer was fined just £50k.
