Cracked up at a video Sam Neill posted at his vineyard today - in the middle of summer! I think Christchurch has only topped 20C 3 or 4 days all year. Fingers crossed for a lovely Feb/March, though.

We did foolishly book the Routeburn track to start the same day we finished the Milford track; as we were a day late, we had to cancel the Routeburn. Lesson learned: next time I'd book a night in Milford then start the second track, 'just in case'.

Did Milford back in 2018 (egads, how is it that long ago?). Got rain-delayed on the second night. Only 13 of the group of 40 went forward the next day. Rain and wind (and no view at this spot) but possibly my best day hiking EVER. The waterfalls....
