Agree! But "right places on distribution grid" needs cooperation from distribution utilities. And they, by and large, *hate* batteries that they do not control. And they would rather build more subs and wires than batteries beacuse...more $ to ratebase. Misaligned incentives...
With ~$50B of batteries we can accommodate all of the load growth in the USA through 2030. But they have to be placed in the right places on the distribution grid. So think less 100 MW single deployments and more 3-8MW distributed deployments and behind the meter batteries at homes and businesses.
