Thanks Chris. First point - yes: it's redundancy rather than split attention (I asked John Sweller this exact question back in 2017 and he agreed that simultaneously listening and reading would likely impair learning).

Have been reading about how background and subject knowledge is key to reading comprehension and learning from what you read.
