Nearest analogy you might understand. Imagine I have a really huge vat of soup. I stir it very carefully. I only need a tiny teaspoon to know what it tastes like. I don’t need to drink the lot. Same with sampling

You don’t understand statistics I fear - it’s more about how representative a sample is than its size relative to population
