Some great analysis by Craig Caffrey:

"In 2025 Europe is set to spend more on the procurement of military equipment than the U.S. for the first time since the Second World War. From the perspective of the scale of market demand, Europe has gone through a remarkable transformation."

Well it seems that your worst cover beats mine. That is something I thought I'd never say.

Game vending machines at the airport. Perhaps with the tarrifs we will soon see Duty free Asmodee or GMT options.

Ive just moved house and for the 1st time in 20 years I can hear Ice cream vans circling around my new home. I can hear them but I am going to have to get alot fitter to find them.

Our kidnapping attempt has now also failed, all we can do now is hope that the Russians arrive in time to save to stop us being being executed by the Gestapo.

Late '44 and we launch a coup d'etat and despite having everyone in Berlin and reams of fake signatures we fail; fortunately we escape without suspicion and Rommel gets pinned with the blame. Our back up plan is a reckless kidnapping or sniper plot. It's not looking good.

Watched the initial two Alien films with my daughter over Xmas. Playing Alien the boardgame a month later and she asked about the bonus situation, suggested we consult Mother and then winked. #parentwins

I am at a 3 day strategic board game event. Yesterday was dark moon a space based social deducation trying to not to get infected. Today it's Westphalia: an attempt to end the 30 years, Pax renaissance: An attempt to realign 16th century European trade and social structures.

Having read too much of the Silk Roads I am off to the museum of the docklands to get some inspiration for a reworking of "seven ages/ history of the world". Ironically tourists, ignorant of tube etiquette, are really irritating me despite this being a multicultural quest.

At the school christmas church service and suddenly noticed what looks suspiciously like a ghostbusters ghost trap. Is someone trying to capture the spirit of jesus?

A very fun afternoon out. Military history by air is great. Apparently you can fly into Duxford with the cost of landing and parking including a ticket which is still cheaper than buying an entry ticket.

We had a look at some ships to get an idea of what the practicalities would be to launch torpedo or dive bomb attacks. In short you are horribly exposed for a very long time over hostile stretches of water.

Just one set of Maunsell Forts built during WW2 as air defence positions to stop Luftwaffe aircraft using the Thames as a navigation and easy route to the docklands. Now many sat in international waters are fought over by smugglers.

Fort Darnet, one of Palmerstons follies. Britain's single largest ever defence programme that was irrelevant within the decade. Whilst we associate the programme with Portsmouth there were 18 fortifications were built around Chatham alone.

Rochester Castle. Also designed to defend the Medway. The castle underwent a rare seige and succesful assault during the Barons war. A great visit with a surprisingly high central keep that gave me vertigo.

The Elizabethan Upnor castle, a naval fortification that saw action during the disastrous 1667 Dutch Raid. The castle performed relatively well compared to the rest of what can only be described as a rout. It has a great 1667 exhibition in the basement. A british defeat hidden away...

Flying down the south side of the Thames Estuary to go and have a look at military fortifications defending the medway. First up: Tilbury fort of Queen Elizabeth speech fame. Still considered one of the finest examples of a 17th century star shaped fort in Europe. It later housed a radar during WW2

At the Honorable Artillery Company this morning supporting the Defence industrial strategy. It's a tranquil site at the heart of the City of London with some interesting heritage and a Victorian DJ booth.
