I was surprised at how much worked for me. The music is very accessible, and I thought the adaptation made sense. I can't imagine the Met will do it again, but I really think it should be seen more.

Yes, and it's a good reminder that Musical Theater writing is a craft that takes a ton of dedication to to the form to do well (see any recent Broadway musicals written by pop people)
