What is social media for if not for yelling all the time?
the thing that gets me about the OU paper situation is that the paper is just embarrassingly bad. like it should not only be embarrassing to the girl to have written it but it should be embarrassing to conservative grifters that they're defending it.

I've built a socioeconomic system that depends on everyone to do useful work and act ethically except the people at the top, who get unimaginable rewards for being antisocial frauds and criminals. And I think it will stand the test of time

Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”

Exceptionally funny to me that Mike Johnson is ultimately very minorly to blame for the whole shutdown, but his insistence on being a creepy little guy about it in the press seems liable to land him the entirety of the blame after this is over.

Saying we’re going to have to learn to live with each other and debate in the marketplace of ideas while the president is purging comedians off the TV is why people are not reacting positively to Ezra Klein.

The truly ironic thing is that everyone is expecting people to treat Charlie Kirk's death with more decorum than they would have expected Charlie Kirk to treat anyone else's death with.

When you devote your life to the message that empathy is evil and gun deaths are an acceptable price to pay for gun rights, you shape the world with your words. Maybe Charlie Kirk didn’t expect to be a victim of his own worldbuilding, but his death is consistent with the world he helped create.

The governing party of the United States is shutting down the federal government to cover-up evidence the president sexually abused children so he can continue trying to implement dictatorship.

That's just a true statement about the world!

I know it's pretty small potatoes compared to everything else in this bill, but a reminder that, if you think you're going to get off relatively unscathed because you're not on government assistance, the BBB also decimates student loan forgiveness and repayment programs.

WHOA. Sit with this excerpt. When ICE arrested the 75-year-old who died in their custody, he had a dog with him, Chulo, whose previous owner had already been taken by ICE.

ICE officers left Chulo loosely tied outside the humane society. He then got free and was hit by a car.

Andor is a sci-fi series that imagines a fantastical world not fully unlike our own, but with some frankly unbelievable changes like a Senator willing to actually take on a single personal risk.

It's really good that the Democrats didn't remove the filibuster to pass meaningful legislation, otherwise the Republicans wouldn't have to come up with a single basic justification for overriding it in the budget bill. Truly this has saved the country from catastrophe.

Between Arcane and Andor I think it's clear now the optimal amount of streaming seasons is just two.

Don't just say it's unconstitutional, remind people that the constitution is full of very good ideas designed to prevent authoritarianism, and most people who want to ignore it want that specifically because they are authoritarian.

I hate to say it, but if everything goes catastrophic because Republicans were going to have to choose between publicly supporting this terrible budget or not...

I may owe Chuck Schumer one (1) apology.

I'm not expert in interpreting Catholic Doctrine, but it seems to me like God tried to speak through Francis to tell JD Vance he sucked, and then when that didn't work he took the old Pope and got a new one who is American for the purpose of telling JD Vance he sucked in his native tongue.
