Second Thursday in a row of teaching two classes, guest teaching a grad seminar, and then attending a guest lecture right after, and I feel insane. Not only bc I’m so tired but also bc I realize that secondary teachers do this much teaching day in and day out?? Fucking how?!?!

In the 1978 film The Candiate, where Redford plays a politician, you can see the full spectrum of tailoring language. Dark worsted suits, esp in pinstripes, call for neckwear. More casual jackets, such as tweed sport coats, can be worn with casual turtlenecks and chambray shirts.

My old, enfeebled body and rapidly senescing mind are absolutely reeling from 5 days of only getting 6.5 hours of sleep and socializing every day. I was not built to survive such grueling conditions

I think this is basically right, and I don’t know anything about any of the sciences other than the stuff around the development of atomic energy, but it’s worth noting, I think, that the question of resource availability and allocation of resources to scientific research is the other key factor
This is utterly, completely false. Math and science were ruined in Germany and Italy approximately instantaneously, because the best scientists fled.

Hilbert, who stayed in Germany b/c he was not a target and was too old and disabled to leave, openly said academic math was dead in Germany.

Excited for my Phil of tech syllabus this semester which includes my most devious pairing ever…Haraway’s “Cyborg Manifesto” + Jünger’s “On Pain.” Get em all amped up about being cyborgs and then give em the ol’ “oh yeah you know else thought this shit was cool?!”

If there's one episode of TV I wish I could force everyone to watch and internalize, it's the 30 Rock where Liz, who has always seen herself as a bullied nerd underdog, finds out she's actually been hated all her life because she's mean.
