while the current official number is hotly debated, there are actually far more tags in HTML than the ~150 commonly cited! that number merely represents the ones we’ve discovered and domesticated — there are potentially thousands more in the creeping unexplored corners of the deep web & dark net

Pretty sure I've had a mild case of Covid for about a week now. A slightly sore throat, a bit snotty, and feeling fatigued.

So many people I speak to seem to be experiencing similar symptoms, too.

Anyone got any tips for using Bluesky once you follow more than a couple hundred people? What feeds are you using? Do you mute any words or create lists?

Recently, I discovered that our porch light had been wired in to our upstairs lighting circuit, instead of the downstairs circuit that it should be part of.

There's no need to ask me how I find that out. You can probably guess...

Love this. Being able to slow down a user at key points in the user journey is just as important as making other parts quicker.

In the future, I'd love to see stats on how effective the interruption component has been at reducing errors.
Sorry to interrupt… but the MoJ Design System have released a component today.

We now have an Interruption card in the Ministry of Justice’s design system, and I have to say it, but the work of the team is at another level.

This is great. We need more stuff like this!
Anyway…

Here’s a visualization of all the curse words being used on Bluesky in real time.

Each word is a cute fluffy little profane cloud.

It’s oddly soothing.

This is a great community ethos. Did you know there’s also a “Newskies” feed with first posts from new users? I sometimes go in there and say hi to new folks coming on.
I think all of us should spend five minutes doing this each day:

👉 Search Bluesky for “first post”
👉 Filter by “latest”
👉 Like and welcome at least 10 new people

It makes a big difference and it could just make you a new friend!

I've started doing this every time I see someone's first post on one of my feeds. It's fun!
5 Reasons to Welcome First Posters on Bluesky

1️⃣ It’s polite
2️⃣ Encourages them to post again, boosting the platform
3️⃣ Builds a positive culture on Bluesky
4️⃣ You meet fascinating people
5️⃣ Do it often, and you’ll likely gain followers

Bonus: you see lots of cute dog/cat photos #firstpostchallenge
