If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

I can’t understand why advertisers aren’t putting pressure on to get ODI matches on free to air TV. The current Aus vs India series would get great viewership.

More and more, I'm seeing AI-generated (or "enhanced") headshots everywhere from LinkedIn to dating sites. To me, at least, that is an immediate no. Relationships, be they employment or personal, are built on trust. An AI-genereated (or even "enhanced") photo is a lie, plain and simple.

If you can’t charge overnight, EVs just aren’t viable. Perhaps 50% of the cars on the road are in that situation, and some token numbers of public chargers won’t fix the problem.
Predictions for EV sales going forward aren't looking too promising, and many automakers are reacting by adjusting their product portfolio plans.

With EV demand predicted to plummet, GM has rejiggered its production plans.

Niche complaint: people who overuse the ‘final’ keyword inside Java methods. 99% of the time it reduces readability because of the extra clutter.

When I was a kid, an ADD diagnosis meant you irritated your teachers. A lot of “good kids” struggled without the supports they needed to thrive.

The transport heritage expo at Sydney’s Central station is great. Brilliant exhibits. But maybe the main concourse is a little noisy for such an obviously ND crowd?

Books that merely describe sexuality, LGBTQ people, or ugly aspects of American history aren't getting accidentally caught in a well-intentioned dragnet, Emma Sarappo writes: “They are targets of a deliberate effort to ban books deemed to have the wrong viewpoints.”

In the 21st century, censorship of work like Judy Blume’s has evolved into a broader attack on books.

If you can’t do your job without ChatGPT to do it for you, maybe you shouldn’t be doing that job at all
I am continually shocked by how many people in our line of work openly admit to *needing* ChatGPT. “Oh, I couldn’t do my job without it,” someone said to me the other day. Which is weird because, like, they’ve been in that job for years?

This shows off the power dynamics in the rental market. Legal or not, the fact that you need somewhere to live gives you little choice but to sign.
An update on that insane lease term where the landlord owns everything you create during the tenancy:
