Givin you a lil preview, Wikipedia on Quest3, all offline. OK ok it's not 3Tb, in fact it's "just" 0.12Tb but still, it works thanks to Kiwix!

I'll share details and I'll also try to load my Hetzner StorageBox on (not offline obviously, via WebDAV most likely) as that is 5Tb proper.

FWIW I did stream from Deck to Quest (can look up a link, AFAIR via Alvr), and it worked, just not WebXR.

Sure but that can already be tested, we have the Steam Deck, had it for years now, we didn't manage AFAICT.

28min they mention "hand tracking" www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7q2... but quite elusive about it. I'm not sure what it means, if it's supported at all, if it's up to content developers to implement via camera access, if it's OpenXR registry.khronos.org/OpenXR/specs... or something else?

FWIW github.com/Igalia/wolvi... so not Linux proper.

Wow... nuts to compare the views on here (Bluesky), a dozen a most, vs there (X/Twitter) like ... 1M views?!

Neat! Works well but 2 quick questions :

- I had a black background, how can I enable AR/passthrough?
- can I push back from a face or is it only adding cubes?

I'd assume so and I didn't see anything suggesting otherwise... but that's a missed opportunity to take the medium seriously then.

No doubt, had a Steam Deck since it's out and... just think about it with a laptop with a different form factor. Whatever runs on your (Linux) desktop runs on your Steam Deck. Obviously as a standalone device it's not as powerful but it works.

All that said, if it helps some people to decouple from BigTech... then absolutely worth it!
November 13, 2025 at 7:11 AM
Once again I'm sure others did it before me. I didn't do anything special, just used existed great software together.

So... yes, as the articles points out, there is nothing radical in any dimension (even though I do expect with dedicated network and foveated streaming it will be better) AFAICT.🤷‍♂️

Ah, where did you see that? Article says otherwise.
November 13, 2025 at 6:13 AM
cc @uploadvr.com for your own source on that?

Article says "Steam Frame does not currently support controller-free hand tracking. It requires some form of controller." so can you please send a source showing that it does?
