It's got jump scares. It's a good movie, though. Great acting by the kids. Skarsgard is good as Pennywise. But they do use jump scares pretty frivolously. Hollywood is not good at fomenting dread. They just like to startle viewers.

I grew up in NJ and currently live in WI. I've done everything from driving the rural backroads of Appalachia in the middle of the night to cross country trips in snow storms to 100mph on the interstate. Nothing had me white-knuckling more than Atlanta. Holy shit.

I call it the Bethesda curse. The Fallout games suffer the same fates. Their end game stuff is such a let down.

I've driven in every state east of the Mississippi. In my opinion, Indiana has the worst drivers at a statewide level, but Atlanta has the worst drivers anywhere I've been. Driving there was the most harrowing time I've spent behind the wheel.

I have way too much experience with this. I have what can be described as a typical right-wing coded look, i guess?. And the brazenness with which people think I'll be ok with their overt bigotry is staggering. As if I'll agree with it. I've had to shut down bosses even. Like, no, not with me.

Thing is, I'd rather hang out with Matthew Lillard than Quentin Tarantino any day. One has always seemed like a good dude. One has always seemed like he believes his own shit don't stink. Quentin can fuck off.
