this quote is basically as close as I'll ever get to a religious text, I always reread it in the way I assume some read the bible

I’ve reported on homelessness for years and met many, many people who have found themselves in awful situations

Every single one of them had more decency and integrity than this privileged plutocrat

Agreed. This is a very interesting development. Suggests something happening in the soul of British conservatism, rather than simply the brain.

Seem to remember Jeremy Corbyn doing the same thing. It doesn't hold any power until there is a major scandal.

You have to choose carefully when to use it
Kemi Badenoch calling on Keir Starmer to resign and hold an election after just four months in office, after her own party just suffered its worst election defeat in history, feels incredibly desperate

Best #pmqs for a while this. Starmer and Badenoch both on good form

Spot on. Comprehensive pedestrianisation should be far higher up the agenda in our cities than it is. Nearly wherever cars go, cities get worse. Nearly wherever they’re removed, those urban spaces flourish.
Before & After: I don’t think people realize the extent to which parked cars degrade public space.

100% agree with this. It’s disingenuous for anyone to pretend otherwise.
I would really like there to be an acknowledgment of harms caused by all our legislation (and lack of legislation). A basic, respectful honesty.

Yes, if we change the law some vulnerable person will end up pressed into ending their life earlier. Yes, if we don’t change it, dying people will suffer

Can’t imagine a more dogbrained use of this website than importing every tweet you’ve ever made. Extremely sad shit. We do not need your 500,000 tweets that are all variations of “LIKE and RETWEET if ‘PR*SID*NT’ RUMP is a TRAITOROUS ORANGE CHEETO”

Agree with this analysis from Sam. The assisted dying bill has quickly become one of the most politically problematic issues for the new government, all stemming from Keir Starmer’s promise of a vote on ITV News in March.

This a big story which hasn’t had as much pick up as it should. Nissan and other UK car manufacturers urgently lobbying govt to change policy on EVs…say production is at risk with current regime which increasingly penalises them for non-EV manufacture.
NEW w/ @pickardje.bsky.social:

The transport secretary is considering ‘flexibilities’ to help carmakers hit EV targets.

Haigh told @lewisgoodall.bsky.social she was in "listening mode" as Nissan warned jobs could be at risk if changes aren't made.
