There are pretty grab bars out there. If you redo a shower, consider putting them in, you never know when they will come in handy.

Never have I ever (until tonight)... updated two tablets, simultaneously, multiple times, to get them up to date so we could use them at an event. Hadn't been updated since 2022. Just part of my job as chief tech volunteer for Gina's work. On update 4 on one, and 2 on the other.

Sharing a happy story.

Haven't seen them yet, but have heard trumpeter swans in our back yard! Quick seach confirmed the call and that we are in the breeding zone. Turns out they're a success story, in 1933 there were fewer than 70, in 2010 46,000. And now we have at least one pair in our backyard.

I read comments. I know, bad idea, but sometimes a good pulse check. Many people know Minnesota runs a contest to name the new snow plows. The comments were about the waste, not of the contest, but of buying snow plows. In Minnesota. Yes, we have a lot, but it is how the state functions in winter.

This week, the work I do was threatened. And while I'm not in direct service, we support those who are. We collect and provide the data used to fund efforts to prevent and end homelessness. Our grants were frozen along with so many others'. This work needs to be there until we achieve our goal.

As of last night, the Violence Against Women Act page on HUD was throwing a page not found error. So now we aren't protecting women fleeing domestic violence either?

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.

They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1,000 a month. A year later, nearly half of participants said they had housing.
Participants in Denver's basic-income program reported having more-secure housing, though results were similar in the trial and control groups.
