More tiger than your average bee. Lazy queerness, abortion activism, doula stuff, weird cooking, dress-up. Always, always, grounded in love.
Bard never really cared much for celebrating their birthday, but I usually made them do it anyway. The summer birthday meant they grew up with friends being away, or on a trip themselves. I guess now they are on the ultimate trip. But milestones still stay on my mind. Miss you, love. Happy birthday.

Sponsor me in Sing for the Earth, a 24-hour community singing marathon through Gaia Collective, to raise funds for environmental justice. A buck or two (or more!) per hour I sing (likely between 3 and 12 hours) would make me so happy.

Happy Pride all! I'm proud to have the amazing @lediva in my life.

Sometimes my life just feels like a cycle of buying ingredients and then trying to cook them before they get too old and having too much food. I like having a well-stocked fridge/kitchen but hoarder tendencies plus perishable plus hating waste is a delicate balance.

Huge news: FDA approval today for suzetrigine, the first new drug approval for acute (not chronic) pain in decades and, critically, a non-opioid analgesic:

FDA approves first new type of pain medication in 25 years | CNN
A new pain relief drug, suzetrigine, is a prescription pill that’s taken every 12 hours after a larger starter dose. It will be sold under the brand name Journavx.

I've never quite known what to do except to keep loving on people, providing care, and throwing money at organizations I hope will make a difference.

On"merit-based" practices: 1) There are very few positions that require the absolute best person at executing the official tasks of the job. Being able to complete the job competently is fine.

Philosophical disagreement with the cat as I eat my fancy sardines from the store in Times Square. "That is *fish*. In a *can*. Who here eats fish from a can as a regular part of her diet? It's not you, skin face. That's obviously my treat."

Just got my 17-year old bee and apple blossom tattoo refreshed/redone by the delightful Anna Rawr at Evening Star Tattoo in Park Slope. Good decision.

Please come hear me with the Hudson Chorale on January 25th or 26th at 3 pm, in the lovely Maryknoll Chapel in Ossining. The program is a creative blending of the Latin Requiem Mass and Hindustani improvisational singing, followed by a collection of feel-good carols. Message me for tickets.

“Gee Vicki, what are we gonna do this month?” “The same thing we do every month, fight with Anthem about whether we can get our medication!” So tired of this.

So, friends who are jumping ship from FB to come here...are you not actually posting/engaging yet? Or is my setup to see what you're doing just set up really poorly?

Not sure who is actually reading what I put here, but here's a big call to the Universe to send all the NYC/Westchester/Greenwich queer, trans, and/or poly pregnant people whose experiences I can make better my way in 2025.

A strange thought: I'm mostly aphantasic (do not experience images, sounds, etc. inside my mind). I know many people experience seeing departed loved ones when they are near death -- Bard had long conversations with their father. I wonder if I will be able to experience that, or if I'm wired wrong.

Call me a cranky old lady, but "checking in" to flights and doctor appointments when you won't even be there until the next day makes no sense at all.

Marian Thompson, a 1956 founder of La Leche League, has resigned, stating that the organization has shifted from "following the norms of Nature ... to indulging the fantasies of adults" because of its inclusive support for all breastfeeding parents. Congrats to LLL for growing beyond you!
