WBA, St Pauli, decent music, good reads, cycling and other lost causes. Getting on a bit.
Yes, though it would help if the other parties had coherent economic policies of their own

He did the same to me for daring to ask about his colleague, Sangita.

Scratch a liberal……

Council by-election in Stapleford (Broxtowe BC) yesterday. Broxtowe Alliance gain, polling more than Labour & Reform combined.

Fair point. The ‘dirt’ on Farage et al is important to expose, but it can only go so far. The rest is down to other parties getting their act together.

Seems you were a bit wide of the mark…..
December 5, 2025 at 10:40 AM
That’s true as well. But there is a critical mass of ‘Reform-curious’ voters who are persuadable and may be dissuaded from voting Reform by all the awful stuff coming out about them.
Other parties need to earn those votes back, though.

We had a council by-election in Stapleford (Notts) yesterday. Very much a potential Reform town, with lots of flags in the town centre. After a hard-fought campaign, the local independent (socialist) candidate won, with more votes than Reform and Labour combined.
Reform CAN be beaten.

This is the party determined to eliminate wasteful spending. An absolute fucking clown show.

If not child-centred, what is education for? What or whom -‘centred’ should it be?

I saw Booker T and the MGs in 1970 in Birmingham. I only knew about Time is Tight at the ‘time.’ Cropper’s playing that night was a revelation. It has stayed in my memory all this time!
Very sad to learn of his passing.

A tricky one, I’d imagine. Full recovery often takes longer than you’d imagine. I’ve personal experience of people seeming to be out of the woods, but finding out later that there’s still a way to go. And it was a very stressful job.

I thought the same re: Wicky. In any event, the board are showing that they aren’t being influenced unduly by the social media and a few crowd voices to sack Mason. Let’s see what happens.
December 2, 2025 at 8:20 AM
It was strange. I can only imagine they maybe felt they had rushed into it when the Wicky deal fell through.
And, given that he hadn’t worked since, maybe Mowbray’s health was still a concern.

I have it on good authority that he was an absolutely shit teacher.
December 1, 2025 at 3:32 PM
Thanks for your response, more reasonable than the ‘only the Lib Dems can beat Reform’ stuff. I just think that in these unusual circumstances, the gestures by Greens and Independents to stand aside were right and proper.
But we are where we are.
December 1, 2025 at 1:24 PM
Sad to see the usual bullshit about ‘only the Lib Dems can beat Reform.’
This was a ward held by a member of the Broxtowe Alliance until his untimely death. So your assertion is nonsense .
And doubly sad that, in the tragic circumstances of this by election, you don’t have the decency to stand aside

Bielik’s composure at the back, and Maja’s intelligence up top made all the difference. Campbell had a storming half as well.
We were a completely different team second half.

A great episode of this fantastic podcast series.

It would be just like us to win tonight, save Mason’s job for a bit longer and then do a 0-0 or even 0-1 against Swansea on Saturday.
2-1 Baggies.
I’m not confident either.
