and with that data you can do things like reverse handle search, see every account a handle has ever been associated with (along with their respective histories) which is IMO super dangerous when people aren't aware and likely has or will result in stalking, harassment, doxxing, etc.

for example, through the did:plc system, handle changes are permanently stored in a public ledger, meaning any account's handle history is entirely public. this can be seen on sites like clearsky. but anyone with a little technical knowhow can fetch the entire ledger from web.plc.directory 's API

i don't understand the protocol very deeply but i am a little frustrated how the openness of everything isn't shoved in peoples faces hard enough given how different it can be relative to their expectations coming from sites like twitter

realized my domain was expired because bsky had invalid handle and i couldn't fix it via the dns revalidation. i should check my email more often
