We didn’t even wait to play this one! Ostia from Uchibacoya is a great game and a fun efficiency puzzle!

Last night we checked out Victory Garden, a fun new roll-and-write from Tunnel Monster Collective. I’m not big on roll-and-writes, generally speaking, but this one went over really well. I also love the charming art and vibrant colors!

FINALLY had a chance to play Last Light and I was really impressed with how quick the turns went and how fast the game played! Super fun, looking forward to playing it again!

Happy Thanksgiving from Beer City Board Games!

Marrakesh with all the expansion modules is definitely a table hog! Most of the modules felt a little superfluous, but I did like the addition of the camel track. It’s a place where you can send any color piece to move your camel down the track for bonuses and end game points.

Seems like a good time to put out an introduction for the new followers.

Hi! I’m Clay! I run the YouTube channel Beer City Board Games. We do reviews, how to plays, and convention vlogs.

You’ll probably also see posts about our dogs, live music, and bad movies. 🐶🎥🎲

Ever wish Azul was more beige? Check out Intarsia! This was a surprisingly thinky game with some really cool wood pieces from Pegasus Spiele.

Cora can’t be bothered to say hello.

Spent the evening hanging out with friends and playing some of our favorite lighter games! Skull and Strike are old-school classics, and Trio is a newer game that quickly made its way into the rotation!

New arrivals from Pegasus Spiele! Can’t wait to get these to the table!

The deluxe version of Wonderland’s War from Druid City Gamesis an absolute knockout! Excellent miniatures, wonderfully tactile plastic chips, and don’t forget that incredible Manny Trembley artwork! We played with the new Shards of Madness expansion too!

I don’t want to spoil anything about Oathsworn: Into the Deepwood from Shadowborne Games, so I’ll just say that Blackrocks Brewery up in Marquette MI makes some damn fine beer!

Newest arrivals from Kids Table Board Gaming! Very excited to get Creature Comforts back to the table, and can’t wait to try Maple Valley!

In keeping with our recent theme of playing full games that we tried at Gen Con, we got a full game of Wild Tiled West in last night. I love how the tile drafting works in this game, plus the fact that there are so many paths to choose to score points!

Over the weekend we also got a full game in of Point City from @FlatoutGames. We played a couple rounds of it at Gen Con back in August, but it was nice to get all the way through this quick engine builder!

Distilled from Paverson Games is such a fun game! I love how thematic it is. The distillation phase and adding the flavor notes feels fantastic! I definitely recommend giving this one a try! (Not pictured: Appleton Estates Special Reserve rum accompaniment)

Saashi & Saashi make some amazing little card games! In Front of the Elevators is a super clean hand management game where you try to position your family members in certain spaces in front of elevators to score the most points. Super charming!

Empire’s End from Brotherwise Games and John D Clair is a cool iteration on No Thanks! Bid resources to avoid disasters, or claim them and try to rebuild. I don’t always like games that try to beat you down the entire time, but I think if you like No Thanks! like I do it’s definitely worth a play!

Don’t sleep on Virtual Revolution from Hachette Boardgames USA. This is a really solid (and pretty punishing) area control game with a cool cyberpunk theme!

This week we played Emerge from Pandasaurus Games. It has a very pleasant theme of growing islands and populating them with plants and animals. The gameplay is very streamlined and the multi-tiered islands look great on the table!

On our second play of Obsession we added in the Upstairs, Downstairs expansion. It added a more things to consider but we didn’t feel like it over-complicated the game. There did seem to be quite a bit of downtime in a four player game, but I still really enjoyed my experience playing this game!

We had a great game day today with Evan and @mistressmissy.bsky.social ! We played Lorenzo Il Magnifico, and then they taught us a few fun, fast games like Vegetable Stock, The Deadlands, and Nightmare Sushi.

Dominations is an interesting take on a Civ themed game. Gain knowledge and use it to build cities and monuments. The knowledge restrictions make for a tight resource economy, and the tech-tree aspect can lead to some pretty satisfying combos.
