First few weeks as an NRN done. Yikes. People weren’t kidding when they said it was hard. Today another trip to Southampton for the MRes though.

What a great article by Millie that I can certainly relate to. The winding down of motivation as financial pressures mount, and I myself found myself more drawn to putting things into practice and lost a bit of academic oomph towards the end in the whole juggling act. Still - we got there.

Been combining my pre-employment check visits with checking out the local eats - today a rather ace (vegan) falafel wrap from Eastern Oven at Kirkgate Market en route from Jimmy’s to station. A little pricey but worth it. Photo does not do the joy it brought me justice…

It does seem like there is absolutely no other occasion when I am more on top of my household chores than when I have a deadline. I may have my final uni deadline tomorrow and have not submitted anything, but at least my flat is cleaner than ever and I’ve done all possible laundry.

Has been a lovely few days of good weather up in Yorkshire ☀️

Having some R&R at last. Last week I had all of my uni deadlines but ended up as a patient on a specialist ward for the best part of a week. Though Spring break now finally feels that it has begun - but will be back to being a patient next week to start a new (& hopefully improved) treatment regime.

Busy with literature review writing for my final undergraduate essay, alongside trying to write a (part-time) Masters application, plus funding application too. February is flying by…!

Finished off the year with a busy volunteer ambulance shift up in Derbyshire. 2024 was a challenging but good one, and I’m proud of myself for what I achieved over the year, with a lot of fun on the way.
Here’s to an even better 2025. Wishing everyone a lovely year 💙

I keep seeing “person/ people with neurodiversity” and “neurodiverse individual” come up (e.g. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...).

Why does this matter?

Not only is it linguistically wrong, but it also means that autistic people are unintentionally “othered” again

Neurodiversity INCLUDES US ALL

First week of underway of (student) A/L and as well as rest, I’ve also managed to complete my ambulance revalidation and nearly finish data extraction of a systematic review. All of this happens during annual leave as it’s hard to fit in during full time shift patterns as this term has been busy!
