In its early series, Knightmare lacked a single major antagonist or 'baddie'. Originally, Treguard was specifically a neutral character, neither on the side of good nor evil. The closest there was to a main villain was Mogdred (portrayed by John Woodnutt), but his primary duty was (according to wizard Merlin in the penultimate episode of Series 2) to "scare you into making a mistake", though he did kill two dungeoneers, one in Series 2 and another early in Series 4. In Series 5 (1991), however, changes were made. The majority of the characters were split into two sides: the righteous "Powers that Be", and the villainous "Opposition", the leader of which was Lord Fear played by Mark Knight. By this time, Treguard's stance had now fully evolved into that of a strictly good character. The words 'Lord Fear played by Mark Knight' are highlighted

I'm a #couch25k frequent flier (trust the process, it always gets me back into running). With incredible skies like this up on King Barrow Ridge and frost on the ground, working on the edge of the Stonehenge landscape is huge privilege; makes it very easy to get out and running
A beautiful example of crown shyness between the four beech trees on G36, one of the barrows listed by Grinsell as one of the Old King Barrows, a Bronze Age barrow cemetery on King Barrow ridge above Stonehenge. These comprise at least 5 upstanding bowl barrows: at least another two have been identified through survey. comprising at least seven bowl barrows. The sky is perfect blue, and the shadow of a hobbit falls across the green grass in the foreground. A beautiful twisted beech tree leans out from the base of Grinsell's bowl barrow G37, ready to trap the unwary.

Spectacularly foggy run around the Stonehenge landscape this morning: Woodhenge barely making its presence felt. Got to surprise a hare and the fluffiest fox I've ever seen

I have spent enormous portions of my life trying to find barrows marked in OS maps to no avail. I learned to read maps by pouring over Cornish land ranger, then hunting tumuli. Delighted to find the Cheriton longbarrow is very obvious today

Stopped off on our way home to pay our respects to the Abbots Bromley reindeer

Proper haunting weather for a Boxing Day wander on Cannock Chase
A view into the mist from a plateau top overlooking a side-valley of Trent. Through the mist can be glimpsed dead and dying silver birches, many missing their tops due to wind damage. Many have bracket fungus (birch polypores) A line of mature silver birches edging the path, disappearing into the mist. A really quite Extra Christmas tree in front of some bookshelves. There is a beautiful, moth-eaten, red feather fairy on top of the tree. She is from the 70s and her wings have dropped off, but we all feel a bit like that these days. You can tell the tree belongs to someone over 40, because there are CDs AND paper OS maps on the bookshelves
