We found it takes up to two years for new attending physician hires to reach the productivity of their existing colleagues. But physicians who did any residency or fellowship training at VHA (internal hires) ramped up productivity faster than those who didn't (external hires). 2/3

Productivity, measured in encounters per clinic day, of both internal and external new hires increases over the first two years of their employment. The productivity of external new hires is significantly lower than that of internal new hires at every tenure point. Internal new hires reach the productivity of existing employees during their 7th quarter of employment, while external new hires do not achieve the productivity of existing employees during their first two years of employment. The model used data from 27 specialties and adjusted for physician specialty, facility, and time (year and month) fixed effects.

My street goes hard for Halloween. Trying to fit in, I sewed a Halloween wreath. Except its vibes are more "cluster of monarch butterflies" than "spooky season." Alas, I still like it!
